THE CAMPANER

In Catalonia, there is a profession that is held with pride – to
ring the bell of the church in town. Whoever holds this position
is known as the campaner.

The grandparents of the family that owns the restaurant were
born in a farmhouse in Cabra del Camp in Tarragona. As the
grandfather oversaw the ringing of the bell, the farmhouse
was called Cal Campaner, and Jaume (the one who rang the
bell) was called Jaume de Cal Campaner.

The family continues to use the name and now shares it with
the restaurant in honour of this tradition.

THE BELL

Is a symbol of the connection between the earth and the sky.
It influences the mood, relieves stress, and purifies spaces.
The new barracks bell in the Garrison Chapel was cast
by the world’s largest foundry, John Taylor & Co.

THE BELL TOWER

Represents the identity of a people,
and is an ancestral communication tool.
